Using Captions

Requirements
You must have Windows media player 6.4 or greater in order to view captioning.  If you do not have Windows Media Player, you may download it from the Windows Media site.

How to view captioning with Windows Media Player
In order to view captioning, a Windows media file needs to include a SAMI (Synchronized Accessible Media Interchange) file.  Video clips on the HiSoftware site include these files by default.

Next, you need to configure Windows Media Player to show the captioning.

For Windows Media Player 7.0/7.1/8.0:

  1. Click on the Show Equalizer Settings button.  See item 1 in picture below.
  2. Cycle through the equalizer settings until the captioning text appears.  See item 2 in picture below.
  3. Captioning will appear in the block below the video.   See item 3 in picture below.

AccVerify is a web content quality testing solution.

This demonstration shows how to use the Cynthia Says Edition of AccVerify.

First, we will go over the different parts of the screen.

The File menu allows you to select files for testing.

The Settings menu allows you to change the report settings, the Accessibility rules to check, along with many other options.

The Reports menu allows you to view the results of your testing.

The Verify menu is used to test your page.

The Add-ins menu allows you to create your own custom checks.

The Help menu provides different resources for you to get assistance.

The toolbar allows easy access to commonly used functions

The main window below has three views.

The File Source view allows you to see the source code for a singly selected file located on local drives, mapped network drives, and FTP Sites.

The Selected Files view allows you to see the names of all selected files, up to 100 of them.

The reports view has a tree-view control where the reports for the tested files appear.
